from a manlier perspective;
Sitting by my piano
Pondering my past
I have finally found
The true meaning of love at last.
L o v e is not your crush at the age of 9.
No, love is not saying I love you today
Breaking up the next day.
L o v e, however, is advising her
On how to get that guy,
Wishing in your heart that the guy was you.
L o v e is the unrecquited love for her
For more than five years.
L o v e is sending her a handmade gift
On her birthday
Knowing it's probably a untidy mess compared to HER handiwork
Two years, after the break-up.
L o v e is attending her wedding
Congratulating, and hugging her
Though it leaves a bleeding cut in your heart
Long after.
L o v e is hanging out at the kopitiam
With HER husband
Chatting amiably about those humourous
How-did-you-get-to-know-her incidents
While waiting for her and your girfriend
To finish their Christmas shopping.
L o v e is attending her funeral
Giving a heartfelt eulogy of her
Bringing back a wave
Of long forgotten memories.
L o v e in the truest, purest sense,
Is loving somebody
No matter if the person doesn't love you
The same way.
L o v e is accepting a person's decision
Even if it means,
Not seeing him or her ever again.
L o v e is the ability to let a person
Go his or her own way
Though it stings and breaks your heart
Into a million pieces.
And of course, love goes beyond
Doing something nice for a friend.
Love is standing by that friend
Even if he or she has hurt you countless times.
